Moving to Ghost from WordPress? You can easily import your posts directly into Ghost with a little help from a plugin we've designed specifically for this purpose. Follow along with this guide to get started!
Navigate to your Plugins section.
To begin, log in to your WordPress site, and click on "Plugins" from your main navigation - located on the left side of your screen.
Add a new plugin
Next, we need to add the Ghost plugin to WordPress, to do this, click "Add New" from the top of the Plugins page.
Type "Ghost" into the search field box
Now we need to find the Ghost plugin. To do this, type "Ghost" into the search box and click the "Search Plugins" button.
Install the Ghost plugin
The Ghost plugin should be the first plugin to show up. When you've located the plugin in the plugin list, click the blue "Install Now" link.
Activate the Ghost plugin
When you've completed the Ghost install, you will be taken to a page with a link to activate the Ghost plugin. To activate it, click on "Activate Plugin."
Navigate to the "Tools" section of WordPress
Once Ghost has been installed and activated, you'll need to navigate to the "Export to Ghost" page. To do this, click on "Tools" from the main navigation - located on the left side of your screen. This will expand the "Tools menu." Once expanded, you will see "Export to Ghost" as an option. Click on "Export to Ghost."
Download the Ghost file
Once you're on the "Export to Ghost" page, scroll down to the bottom of the section and click on the blue "Download Ghost File" button.
Save the Ghost file to your computer
After you click on the "Download Ghost File" button, you will be prompted to save your Ghost file. Be sure to save this in a location you can easily access for the next step.
Log in to your Ghost blog to access your debug tools
Now that you have downloaded a copy of your Ghost file from WordPress, you need to log into your Ghost blog, specifically, you'll need to go to the debug section of your blog - located
Upload the Ghost file to your blog
When you've reached your debug tools, next to import is a "Choose File" button. If you click on that button, it will prompt you to search your computer and select a file to import. Locate the Ghost file you just downloaded from WordPress and click "Open." Now that you have selected a file, click the blue "Import" button to import your posts from WordPress.
Go to the Content section of your Ghost blog to see all of your posts
Once you've imported your WordPress posts, you can now go to the "Content" section of your blog and see all of your WordPress content.
