How do I submit my sitemap to Google?

Ghost blogs come with built-in support for sitemaps. You can access your sitemap by going to yourblog.ghost.io/sitemap.xml. This sitemap can be submitted to Google using Google Webmaster Tools. To submit your sitemap to Google, please follow the steps below.

Create a Google Webmaster Tools account

If you do not already have a Google Webmaster Tools account set up for your blog, create a free account here.

Add a Site

Once your account has been created, you'll need to "Add a Site." You can do this by clicking on the "Add a Site" button. Make sure to use the domain that you are using with your blog, i.e. yourblog.ghost.io or if you're using a custom domain, yourdomain.com.

Inject the verification script

Once the site has been added, you will need to verify you own the domain you're using. Click on the tab for "Alternate Method" and select HTML tag from the list. Copy the verification meta tag provided.

Next, take the verification code and use your Ghost blog's code injection feature to add the tag to your blog.

Access sitemaps

Within Google Webmaster Tools, access the sitemaps, located under the "Crawl" menu on the left.

Submit your sitemap

Once you've reached the Google Webmaster Tools sitemap screen, click the red "Add/Test Sitemap" button.

Enter your sitemap URL

Next, enter your sitemap URL into the sitemap box, your sitemap URL is yourdomain.com/sitemap.xml, so you should only need to enter in sitemap.xml into the box. When finished, click the "Submit Sitemap" button to submit the sitemap.
